Tim Erwin
Gymnastics
Director, Executive Staff
Tim has been
coaching and/or directing gymnastics for
more than 30+ years. He has been
fortunate enough to coach many of the
highest ranked Junior Gymnasts in the
United States. One of which went on to
become an Olympic Team Member. In
addition, Tim has traveled as a
representative of the USA Gymnastics
Federation Coach with gymnasts and teams
to Russia and Japan. He formally served
as a Jr. National Team Coach (6 years),
a Junior Olympic Program Committee
Member (3 years), the Texas State
Chairman (9 years), and currently is on
the Texas State Committee and is the
treasurer of Texas State Sims
Scholarship Committee.
Tim is a
former gymnast, and competed on two
Illinois High School State Championship
Teams. He has directed and coached at
the JCC's Houston Gymnastics Club for 21
years. Tim has directed invitational's
in Houston for 18 years, and the Houston
National Invitational for 16 years. In
addition, he is the Meet Director for
the 2005 USA Gymnastics Men's Junior
Olympic National Championships.

Roumen Yordanov
Men's
Head Coach, Women's Team Coach,
Girls Program Coach &
Coordinator
Roumen comes to
our Houston Gymnastics Center with an
extensive background in gymnastics both as a
competitor and coach. He was a 1980 and 1984
Olympic Team Member for Bulgaria and was a
four-time World Championships Team Member.
He is honored with a Master of Sport Degree
and has been coaching in Houston for the
last 15 years.
He has developed
National, Regional and State Champions in
Women’s and Men’s gymnastics. Roumen brings
to us extensive knowledge and a great report
with our team and recreational participants.
He is a “hands on” coach that will give all
our gymnasts special attention and training
time.

Deliana (Dee)
Vodenitcharova
Women’s
Team/Class Coach & Coordinator
Deliana competed
in the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games in Seoul,
Korea and Barcelona, Spain. She placed
fourth on the Floor Exercise in Seoul and
the Bulgarian National Team for which she
competed placed fifth respectively. Dee has
an extensive background in physical
education and coaching, and received her
Bachelor Degree from the National Sports
Academy in Sofia.
She has coached
in the Houston area for more than 5 years
and has trained many successful gymnast that
competed in the National, Regional and State
Championships. We are extremely excited to
Dee as part of our prestigious and
experienced coaching staff.

Adam Benas
Women’s
Team / Class Coach & Coordinator
Adam also came
to us from a Head Coaching position in South
Carolina, and is a former member of NCAA
Championship Team Penn State University
where he was on a full gymnastics
scholarship and voted team captain. In
addition he was a former Jr. National Team
Member and has an extensive background in
progressive coaching and spotting
techniques.
In addition he
was a two-time NCAA All American at Penn
State. He has been coaching for 5 years and
coaches boys, as well as, girls gymnastics.
Adam brings not only a wealth of knowledge
and experience to our staff, but a great
positive style to coaching that shows his
enthusiasm and love of the sport.

Shannon Benas
Women’s Team /
Class Coach & Coordinator
Shannon is a
former elite gymnast and attended the
University of Missouri on a Full Gymnastics
Scholarship. She was a four-time varsity
letter winner on MU holds the MU Big 12 Beam
record. She was the former Head Coach at
Terry and Don’s Gymnastics in South
Carolina.
Shannon also
brings to HGC a strong background not only
in gymnastics but in choreography and
cutting music for Floor Exercise Routines.
We are overjoyed to have Shannon as part of
our Elite Team of Coaches, we expect her to
be an integral part high quality program.

Ed
Karacek
Women's Pre-Team Coach & Camp Staff
Ed Karacek, a
native Bostonian, moved to Houston in 1973.
After graduating from Northeastern
University, he took a job as a physical
education teacher with the Houston
Independent School District and retired
after 30 years of teaching. During his
career, he was the gymnastics specialist for
22 years at Welch Middle School. He
has coached part time at the Jewish
Community Center for the past 18 years,
working with "tiny tots," thru teens and
adults.
He is currently
working with pre-team level 4 students as
well as working with students in the summer
and winter camp programs. He believes that
Gymnastics is an "I Can Do It" sport. It
requires strength, agility, flexibility,
coordination, and most importantly promotes
good self
esteem.

Bo Morris
Men’s Team Head Coach
Bo has been coaching
gymnastics since 1985. He holds a BA from
Louisiana Tech University in Education. He
has taught history, biology and
environmental science. He has been a
gymnastics club owner, gym manager, program
director in private gym clubs. Hosted
numerous State and Regional Championships.
Coached at numerous Region III Team Camps.
Louisiana State Chairman for 7 yrs.
Member of Texas Executive Committee for 3
yrs.
Worked for USA Gymnastics-
National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport
of gymnastics, from 2001 -2005.
Responsible for implementing and
administrating the Men’s Program in the USA.
By overseeing, all aspects of the Junior
Olympic Program for Men. From local
competitions thru state, regional and
national championships. Provided support
for Winter Cup, U.S. Men’s Qualifier, 2003
World Championships and U. S. Championships.
He is a fixture in the USA men’s gymnastics
community. His coaching experience has
propelled numerous gymnasts to NCAA schools
and the USA National Teams. Bo is
married to Deb. They have a happy Labrador
and three lazy cats.
